Return Eligibility & Timeline
- Returns or exchanges must be requested within 7 days of delivery.

All returns must be submitted through the self-serve portal for review.

Failure to submit returns for review before sending your item back will result in your package being discarded by our shipping provider. We are not responsible if this occurs, and no refund, store credit, or compensation will be issued.
- Items must be unwashed, unworn, and free of odors, stains, or pet hair.
- All return shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless the item is defective or there was a shipping error. In these cases, a member of our team will reach out via email for more details and to arrange return shipping.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method only. If you prefer store credit, please request this in the "Notes" section of your return request.
Order Cancellation
- Order cancellation requests must be submitted within 24hrs of placing your order via our Shop Contact Email
- Please reference your order number in your email to help expediate the process.
- Order cancellation may not always be possible, especially on fast-shipping items like sale pieces, Reworked pieces, scrap bundles or accessories.
Alterations
- We are happy to make alterations if your garment doesn’t fit quite right.
- Alterations may be requested for washed and worn garments (unlike returns).
- Fees are determined case-by-case depending on the complexity of the request. We will always be transparent about the cost before proceeding, and may suggest using a local seamstress if it’s more cost-effective.
- Customers are responsible for all return shipping costs for alterations.
- Alteration requests must be made within the same 7-day timeline after delivery.
Reworked Pieces, Sale & Your Well-Loved Thief&Bandit Garments
- Reworked and sale pieces (all final sale) can be altered within 7 days of delivery.
- Thief&Bandit pieces outside this window should be taken to a local seamstress, as this is almost always more cost-effective and sustainable.
- Local customers are welcome to visit our studio for an alteration consultation — quick fixes may be possible at our discretion.
- Damage from normal wear-and-tear or laundering is not considered a defect.
Final Sale Items
The following items are always final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged:
- Underwear
- Swimwear
- Sale items
- Reworked pieces
- Customized orders (e.g., adjusted inseam, garment length, other measurement changes)
While final sale items cannot be returned, we may still offer further alterations within reason. Please include customization requests in the notes section when adding to your cart.
Please note that we cannot accommodate custom garment designs or prints.
Damaged or Defective Items
- If your item arrives damaged or defective, please submit a return request via the self-serve portal within 7 days of delivery.
- We will follow up for photos and any additional details needed.
- If approved, we will provide return instructions and refund your return shipping cost upon receipt.
- Garments with natural variations in print alignment, ink tone, or placement are not considered defective — these are part of the handmade process and make each garment unique.
Garment Care
Because we use water-based inks, they continue to cure over time. For best results, wait a few days before washing your garment for the first time.
- Cotton/Bamboo Jersey: Cold water wash, hang or lay flat to dry. Avoid dryer.
- Cotton Crepe: Cold water wash, hang or lay flat to dry. Avoid dryer.
- Raw Silk: Dry clean only, or hand wash cold water minimally as needed.
Fading caused by improper washing is not considered a defect. For matching pieces, we recommend ordering multiple garments in the same print at the same time, as inks from different print runs may vary slightly.
International Orders, Duties, Taxes & Tariffs
- All Canadian orders have applicable GST/HST or provincial tax applied at checkout.
- Our base shipping is free within North America.
- International shipping rates vary by destination and will be calculated at checkout.
- All duties, tariffs, and import taxes are the customer’s responsibility.
- U.S. customers may face 50–60% of their order value in fees due to current tariffs on Canadian goods.
- Research your country’s import laws before ordering.
- Refusing to pay import fees may result in your package being destroyed — in this case, no refund, store credit, or exchange will be issued.

Refused or Unclaimed Packages
- If a package is returned due to incorrect address or unclaimed status, you must pay shipping fees to resend it.
- We cannot change address details once your order has shipped.
- We must wait for the package to return to us before resending — this can take several weeks.
- If a package is stolen or destroyed for reasons outside our control, no refund or store credit will be issued.
- Please contact your shipping provider for details regarding delivery, as they may be able to provide photo proof of delivery or other details.
Shipping Methods & Timelines
- Once your order is complete, it will ship via Chit Chats, a trusted Canadian shipping service.

- Canada: 3–10 business days
- United States: 3–10 business days

International: Varies by country
- Shipping times may be longer if your package is delayed at the border or in customs. Unfortunately, these delays are outside our control and we cannot guarantee exact delivery dates.
Tracking Your Order
- When your order ships, you’ll receive a Chit Chats tracking number via email.
- Once your package crosses the border, it will be handled by your local postal service (e.g., Canada Post, USPS, Royal Mail, etc.).
- In most cases, your Chit Chats tracking will update with the corresponding local tracking number.
- For the most up-to-date tracking, you may enter the local tracking number directly on your country’s postal service website.
- Please allow 1–3 days after your package crosses the border for tracking to update on the local postal site.
- It’s normal for your package to sit at a distribution centre for a day or two. Please only contact us if tracking hasn’t updated in several business days.
Express Shipping
- Express shipping is currently only available for Canadian orders at checkout.
- Please note: Express shipping speeds up transit time only — it does not shorten our production time. All orders are still subject to our normal production timelines before they ship.
